Hemorrhoid is a common disease. Many
people diagnosed with it are not sure of which treatment method to follow. In
most cases hemorrhoids are life style related and certain changes to lifestyle
can help cure hemorrhoid. If hemorrhoid is diagnosed in the initial stage then
it can be prevented through natural treatment methods. However in advanced
cases of hemorrhoids medical assistance is required. In severe cases surgery is
the only way out. In the initial stage one may experience mild itchiness in the
rectal canal. Some people do not experience any symptom initially. With time
the hemorrhoid increases in size, is accompanied by bleeding, extreme pain and
discomfort. If the hemorrhoid has advanced to a certain stage then in spite of
taking precautionary measures the symptoms will appear. In such cases it is
best to seek medical helps as soon as possible.
Hemorrhoids are of two types-
internal and external. Internal hemorrhoids originate in the anal canal whereas
external hemorrhoids originate underneath the skin of the anus. Both these
conditions are treatable. Sometimes patients can get relief by following
certain home remedies, consuming fiber rich food, regular exercises and
applying ointments. However if ignored the condition may become worse and
surgery may be required. There are several surgical procedures for curing both
internal and external hemorrhoids. Some of the methods are discussed below:
Banding: This is
the most common non-surgical procedure to cure both internal and external hemorrhoids.
Several elastic bands are wrapped around the base of the hemorrhoid. This stops
blood circulation in the veins. After a few days the hemorrhoid shrinks in size
and withers off.
Infrared coagulation:
In this surgical process a high intensity infrared beam is used to coagulate
the blood circulation in the inflamed veins. It stops the blood flow in the
veins and within a few days the hemorrhoid withers off. This is a highly
effective and painless hemorrhoid surgery.
Hemorrhoidectomy:
This hemorrhoid surgery is done in cases where the hemorrhoid is protruding
from the anus. The protruding part is cut off and the blood vessels are sealed.
This method is rather painful and is used only as a last resort.
Stapled
Hemorrhoidectomy:
A special stapling device is used to obstruct the blood flow in the inflamed
veins. This surgery is less painful and has a shorter recovery period than Hemorrhoidectomy.
Laser removal: This is the latest method of hemorrhoid
surgery. A laser is used to sear the hemorrhoid. Considering the results this
is the best surgical option to remove hemorrhoid. The process is painless and
has a very short recovery time. Laser surgery is fast becoming the preferred
hemorrhoid removal method.
Although
surgical methods provide good results but they are not foolproof. Research
shows that 90% of surgical methods are successful, not 100%. So it is highly
recommended to not ignore symptoms of hemorrhoids as things can quickly turn
ugly. Even after surgery one should follow a healthy diet plan and follow a
regular exercise regime as recommended by doctors. This will prevent the
recurrence of hemorrhoids.
